Chiropractor in Woodridge

Looking for a Chiropractor in Woodridge?

Most of us have suffered from short-lived physical aches and muscle strains at some point in our lives. But it’s those chronic pains that prevent us from being able to fully enjoy life. How do you deal with them? The answer often lies with chiropractors. They have helped so many patients, they can also relieve your pain!

Achieve Health and Wellness tends to patients struggling with a wide variety of conditions, such as degenerative disc disease, low back pain, neck pain, migraines, headaches, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel, and sciatica. Victims of car accidents, sports injuries, and pain from spinal misalignment also visit our experienced chiropractors.  We pride ourselves in stellar patient care. The treatments we provide involve spinal manipulations, massage therapy, postural correction, physical therapy, foot orthotics, back and knee bracing, and cold laser treatments.  Our goal is to relieve your pain long-term and help you live your life to the fullest.

Chiropractors and what they do

Our team of doctors is composed of highly trained and experienced healthcare professionals who hold state licenses. They focus on the alignment of the spine and the effect it has on other bodily systems and organs. When the spine is aligned properly, our whole body functions better: the pressure on various neurological tissues is reduced, therefore we experience less pain and discomfort. Physical adjustments performed by chiropractors work on improving the mobility and integrity of the spine over time. Those manipulations coupled with diet and fitness education can drastically improve the quality of a patient’s life.

Looking for a chiropactor? Look No Further!

The aforementioned conditions aren’t the only ones being treated at Achieve Health and Wellness. Maybe you’re a recent car accident victim or have suffered from a sports injury. Whatever the case may be, our doctors can help alleviate your symptoms.

As you’re reading through this list maybe you realize that while you’re not experiencing any chronic issues,  you may still want to see a chiropractor. That’s great! Preventive or wellness care is another branch of chiropractic care. It can remedy any issues before they become larger problems. So if you’re concerned about mobility, flexibility, soreness, or simply need some pointers to make better health choices, then call or email our office. We’ll put you down for a visit!

With all that being said, it’s worth mentioning that there are times when chiropractic care may not be advisable. For example, if you suspect a broken bone, you need immediate treatment.

Do you still have questions? We’re here to answer them for you. Give us a call and we can help you schedule a consultation. Our doctors will discuss your medical history, perform an exam, order imaging and then determine what type of treatment you would benefit from the most. Achieve Health and Wellness is waiting for you!

The first visit

Many people feel anxious about visiting a chiropractor for the first time. Knowing what to expect during the first few visits may help take some of the stress away.

Our consultations begin with a detailed review of your medical history. Patients complete a thorough questionnaire that is discussed with the chiropractor. The doctor will ask you about the symptoms you’re experiencing but also any previous medical issues, diet and fitness habits as well as sleeping patterns. The more they know, the better they can help you.

Next, your chiropractor will perform a physical exam, testing your muscle strength, reflexes and range of motion, evaluating your posture and flexibility, and checking for joint misalignments. X-rays or other tests may be ordered at this time if medically necessary.

Then it’s time for the first adjustment (usually during the first or second visit). You will lay down on a padded table and the chiropractor will manually realign your spine. They may use an activator for this treatment. You may notice some popping and cracking noises during the adjustment. Those are perfectly normal and are not a cause for concern.

At Achieve Health and Wellness we understand that feeling of nervousness before the first manipulation. That is why we do everything in our power to ensure your comfort and put you at ease. Our chiropractors are gentle and experienced professionals trained in over 150 techniques. You’ll be in good hands!

After the first visit most patients experience relief, with some developing soreness, fatigue or headaches that can be remedied by drinking plenty of water. With time and continued treatments however, the improvements in your health become more visible. Of course if at any point you notice new symptoms appearing or pain intensifying, make sure to let us know.

Chiropractors strongly believe in the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Our doctors do not prescribe medication. Instead they offer relaxation, hot/cold treatments, exercise, massages, nutrition counseling, bracing, and adjustments. This holistic, non-invasive approach is customized to fit your needs and help you with your overall well-being.

Becoming a chiropractor

Becoming a chiropractor takes time and hard work. Doctors in this field go to school for 8+ years, both in undergraduate and graduate studies. They also need to complete hours of supervised training. They are strictly regulated by state agencies.  In order to practice chiropractic care, one must pass various national exams and apply for a state license. Keeping the license active requires annual continuing education. When you visit Achieve Health and Wellness you can be sure that our doctors are well-versed in chiropractic care.

Are chiropractic adjustments painful?

For a majority of patients, adjustments are not painful. You may experience temporary discomfort or some soreness but manipulations do not cause long-term pain.  The goal of this treatment is to reduce and remove pain, not add to it.  The adjustment procedure involves applying a quick, precise force on a joint to ensure proper placement and function.  Relief from this can often be felt immediately.
