Millions of people suffer with back pain, joint pain, and/or chronic headaches. You may be one of them. What if we told you there was a non-evasive, tried and tested way to resolve these issues? What if you could get treatment that would alleviate these pains and lead you to a healthier, better life? Chiropractic care can do just that. While it’s dismissed by some, many more have found it to be a true game changer in their overall health.

What does a chiropractor do?
Our doctors are trained, licensed healthcare providers, each with advanced degrees in the field. They have spent years studying and working with the spine. They believe that a healthy spine is the key to good comprehensive health. This is true because when your spine is aligned properly, your nervous system performs better. Neurological tissues are less stressed resulting in lower amounts of pain and discomfort. When chiropractors perform their job well, the mobility and integrity of the spine improves. They will also work with you to improve your exercise and nutrition habits. Together, these effects will lead to the quality of life you deserve.

Looking for a chiropactor? Look No Further!
It does not have to be just these conditions, either. If you’ve had a recent fall, accident, or work related injury, Dr. Fisher and his team may be able to assist. A myriad of health issues can be addressed through chiropractic care.
Most doctors will tell you that being proactive can go a long way to maintaining your health. Wellness and preventative care can often resolve certain conditions before they turn serious. Anyone that has noticed problems involving flexibility, soreness, or mobility should take those signs seriously. It could be the start of something worth monitoring, and is a great reason to schedule a consultation with our office.
Some situations are not appropriate for chiropractic care, however. One case would be a suspected bone fracture. This is a serious condition that merits urgent care at a hospital.
If you still can’t decide if chiropractic care is a good fit for you, give us the benefit of a visit to our office for an initial session. We’re happy to answer any and all questions you might have. Our introductory exam will tell us a lot about whether and how we may be able to help. The answers may surprise you!
What can I expect during my first visit?
We understand a lot of people are apprehensive anytime they visit a doctor for the first time. This may be even more so, with a chiropractor, especially if you don’t know what to expect. We want you to be at ease when you see us, so let’s remove some of the mystery.
We’ll start by reviewing your medical history with you. We want to know, not only about the pain you’re experiencing now, but what might be leading to it. Common contributing factors include diet, exercise, and sleeping patterns.
After discussing these matters, there will be a physical exam. Doctors will be looking at your posture, muscle strength, and flexibility. Your reflexes and range of motion will also be tested. They’ll be especially looking for any joint misalignments. X-rays or other imaging tests help in this endeavor. We do all of this with the intention of developing a specific treatment plan, just for you.
If things go really well, and depending on the diagnosis, you might even get your first adjustment during your initial visit. If not, likely during your second appointment. An adjustment is typically completed with you lying on a padded table. Here the doctor manually realigns your spine, sometimes with the aid of a small device called an activator. Don’t be surprised, or worried, if you hear popping and cracking noises. This is totally normal. Remember, our doctors are trained in over 150 techniques, most of which are gentle and mild. You’re in good hands, literally. We do everything we can to create a calm and soothing environment to ease your mind.
With any luck, at the end of your first visit, not only are you a little relieved, but you are already feeling a little improvement in your condition. There will be occasional side effects such as soreness or fatigue, but these generally don’t last. Keeping hydrated the day of your treatments will lessen these effects. What you should not feel is additional or enhanced pain. If that’s the case, notify us as soon as possible.
Chiropractors believe wholeheartedly in the power of nature and the body’s ability to heal itself. We don’t prescribe drugs. Our “prescriptions” include relaxation, meditation, hot/cold treatments, exercise, massage, nutrition counseling, ultrasounds, and back and knee bracing when necessary. The approach is holistic and non-invasive, focused on spinal manipulation, tailored toward wellness in mind and body.
What schooling is needed to become a chiropractor?
Chiropractors undertake a lengthy and serious path to earn degrees in their field. Undergraduate and graduate studies are required in almost all cases, and doctors must be licensed through state agencies. A national board exam is also required. Continuing education is typically a requirement to maintain one’s license, as well as frequent testing and monitoring. It is a highly regulated and supervised industry.
Are chiropractic adjustments painful?
The answer is an emphatic “NO!” No pain does not mean no discomfort. There will at times be some soreness, but you should not feel worse after seeing a chiropractor, you should always feel better. The adjustment procedure does use precise, quick, and controlled force with the purpose of realigning the joint. This may shock the body, especially early on in treatment, but your body will adapt. Relief will come soon enough and could be right around the corner with a call to our office.
